Amherst library expansion bond rejected in close vote
The Amherst library’s 11 million 1.7 mill 28 year bond to fund a 24000 foot expansion was defeated 933 to 809 amid low turnout. Library director Robin Wood vowed continued service as results showed mixed outcomes for nearby Columbia Schools issues 2 and 3 with Issue 3 failing 844 to 766 and Issue 2 passing 1010 to 607. Supervisor Graig Bansek praised Issue 2 and noted potential cuts without 3 funds.

Teen’s dog stolen from home in Henrietta Township
The Saunders family reports their Golden mutt Scrappy, a 20 pound golden colored dog with a blood disorder, was taken from their yard in the 50400 block of State Route 113 around 7 am Tuesday. Brandon Saunders, a 16 year old Firelands High School sophomore, was home at the time.
