Cincinnati mayor calls repeal of sex orientation ban
Cincinnati Mayor Charlie Luken urged voters to repeal a 1998 city charter amendment that bans enforcement of laws based on sexual orientation. He argued times have changed and Cincinnati should show tolerance and diversity. The effort faces opposition from Equal Rights coalition founder 1993 amendment backers. Polls show mixed support for repeal amid broader same sex marriage debates and ongoing legal challenges.
