Sandusky firms bid on electric job at county office annex
Three Sandusky electrical firms submitted bids for wiring, lighting, and painting at the Erie County Office Building annex to house Extension Service and Regional Planning. Lowest total bids were from Fitzgerald Electric, Sandusky Electric, and Diamonds Electric, with totals ranging from about 1,229 to 1,663 dollars. The bids were recorded for further study by the county commissioners.

Library for million books at Washington University
ST. LOUIS UPD The new John M. Olin Library on the Washington University campus houses 400,000 books and has space planned for up to one million volumes. The building is divided into small browse areas with tables, 125 study rooms for faculty, 60 graduate student cubicles, and 10 seminar rooms for meetings and study.
Hartley Beach property owners respond on county water plan
Six of twelve Hartley Beach property owners in Hartley Beach Huron reply to Erie County Commission inquiry on the proposed county water supply. Four support the system, two oppose citing cost and reliability. Costs cited include 1400 per property unit with concerns about line cleanliness. Public hearing Sept 27 showed opposition, but health officials later urged use of the safe water plan. The line would be county owned and water bought from Huron. Commissioner Deering said outlook is favorable for adoption.

Monroeville local school district filed a bond issue with the Huron County Board for a May election. The $372,000 bond would run 24 years at 23 mills to fund additions, remodeling, equipment, landscaping, and other improvements to school buildings. Also filed was a treasurer nomination for Lewis B McLaughlin seeking a 13th term at $300 annual salary, on the Republican ticket.
