IRG seeks annexation of 442 acres to South Amherst in Lorain County
Industrial Realty Group filed to annex 442 acres from Amherst Township into South Amherst as part of a $500 million quarry driven development on about 1,000 acres across South Amherst, Amherst Township and Brownhelm. About 690 acres lie in Amherst Township. annexation would grant access to services and enable a $26 million sewer and tax abatement plan replacing a larger $300 million failed initiative.

Elyria Library Seeks 1.9-Mill Levy to Replace 1-Mill
The Elyria Public Library System asks voters to approve a 1.9 mill replacement levy in May to generate about 1.9 million dollars annually for five years. It replaces the current 1 mill operating levy expiring December 31 2009. The library must have the city place the levy on the ballot as it is not a taxing authority. Council President Ken Burkhard said the levy will be discussed at a Rules Committee meeting before the Monday council session.
