Clyde H. Fletcher 40 of Vermilion Rd Oberlin died after being run over by Dr Ward A Richardson in a ditch near Vermilion Rd about a mile north of Route 10. Fletcher reportedly exited his car after it stalled and the incident occurred in the southbound lane. Richardson 69 said he dimmed his lights for an approaching car but did not see Fletcher in time. Fletcher born Oct 26 193? in Wakeman, survived by wife Kathryn three daughters and his parents and sisters. Service planned Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Rev Daley W Riggs officiating.
International News Service reports six deaths in the first seven hours of the holiday weekend in Ohio. The tally includes a Shaker Heights fatality in a crash, a 17 year old killed in a three car crash near Butler county, an elderly man in Fulton county, and pedestrians hit on Route 23 and Route 151. No drivers were held in the pedestrian cases.

W H Bill Jones Avon superintendent aged 53 was elected Lorain County’s first Ohio High School Athletic Association Board for Controls member by principals of 24 Northeastern District schools. The district includes 131 AA and 118 A schools and classifications changed from A and B. Jones will serve a three year term succeeding H Larry Brown, and will assume office in 1952. He has taught chemistry and math at Avon Wakeman Camden and coached multiple sports and now resides on Nagel Road with wife Edith and daughter Marianna.
United Press survey finds more than 35 000 Salk shots became stale before use amid distribution mixups and testing delays. States reported varying losses with Oklahoma and Pennsylvania among the highest, while officials defend the overall record despite waste.
Elyria was without public transportation with little hope of immediate resumption. City officials and Chamber of Commerce members said new revenue could not be found and the Elyria Transit Co. ceased operations after 3 p.m. The mayor and service director planned weekend discussions to seek outside firms or new equipment to revive service, though odds looked slim.
Joseph Samec of Harbor Creek Pennsylvania said his wife’s day-old triplets born a week early will earn him tax deductions. The three babies two girls and a boy were born before January 1, allowing Samec a $400 deduction for each on his 1955 income tax.
Cleveland report says former major league pitcher Clint Brown of the Indians and White Sox died at his Rocky River home after a heart attack Friday night. He was 30.
