State Girl 14 Pleads Insanity In Infant Murder Case
A 14 year old girl, Jackie Colon, pleaded innocent by reason of insanity to aggravated murder charges for throwing a nearly three month old infant from a second floor window and stabbing him to death. In Mahoning County Juvenile Court a psychological exam was ordered and Colon was sent to a juvenile detention center. The state seeks transfer to a grand jury for possible adult trial with potential life imprisonment.

Toledo settles mayor harassment suit with $35,000 payment
A former city employee Carolyn Smithers and Toledo officials tentatively agreed to a 35 thousand dollar settlement in Lucas County Common Pleas Court. Smithers alleged Mayor Carty Finkbeiner threatened to hit her and struck her with a coffee mug while the mayor denied the claims and said the suit was retaliation for her removal as Erie Street Market manager. The settlement awaits City Council approval and a stated reason for agreement was not provided.
