Driving policy fault lines emerge in county driver policy clash
Two county commissioners blamed themselves Tuesday for failing to adopt tougher eligibility rules for county employee drivers, while a third pointed at them. The panel had approved a November 1997 resolution to curb who may drive on duty, but the guidelines were not adopted. After a $1.4 million wrongful death settlement last month linked to a county dump truck driver, the insurer demanded a stricter policy or risk losing motor vehicle coverage. The 1997 resolution followed Albert Quinn Jr. crashing into a pickup on Route 301 near Smith Road, killing Cynthia Forthofer. Quinn was convicted of a stop sign violation. Boxer's link to tot death shocks fellow fighter
Sheffield Lake boxer Dezi Ford, 33, a former national Golden Gloves champion, was charged with murder in the death of his 14 month old son Zontius Harris. Ford had brought Christmas gifts to his child and was watching his other children when the boy died after being found lifeless. Fellow boxer Mike Griffith said Ford seemed polite and not the type to commit such a crime.
