Stocks drift to mixed finish in muted holiday trading
The stock market ended mixed as trading was muted on the eve of year end, with the S&P 500 up 1.77 points to 4783.35, the Dow Jones rose 53.58 to 37710.10, and the Nasdaq fell 4.04 to 15095.14. The week ended with broad gains despite cautious activity ahead of 2024.
