New withholding tax schedules take effect January first
The Internal Revenue Service reminds employers and employees that new withholding tax schedules apply to all wages and salaries on or after January 1. Some taxpayers will have more withheld, some less, and some unchanged. The year end adjustments and refunds will be fewer, with 3 to 4 million taxpayers relieved from estimated tax filings for 1945, though final returns remain due.
