Modest Baltimore woman leaves 3 million to deaf college
Olive Swindells died at 94 leaving an estate estimated at 3.6 million after taxes to Gallaudet University, the nation's only four year liberal arts college for the deaf. The bulk, 80 percent, comes from stock and real estate holdings accumulated since the 1940s in a frugal Baltimore suburb. The remainder goes to a non existent nursing home named by Swindells and to the Daughters of the American Revolution and will be resolved in probate court.
