Elyria to Receive 73 Cents of Each Tax Dollar in 1963
Elyria schools will receive 73 cents of every general property tax dollar in 1963 under millage rates submitted by the county auditor and approved by city council. The school rate is 29.94 of 41 mills, down from 39.22 in 1962, reflecting a November school levy and a 2 mill city levy expiring Dec 31. The city millage drops to 4.1 mills for operations, with 12.76 for bonded debt and minor allocations for police, fire pensions, and a recreation levy for pools and an artificial ice rink. Council approved the millage alongside year end transfers in a brief adjourned session.
