Christmas Flight Crashes In Vermilion Injuring Newburger Family
Randolph Newburger 33, his wife Carol 27, and their two children rode in a single engine Cessna from Wakeman Airport when fuel ran low in strong headwinds. The plane landed on a Dayton street. Newburger is in serious condition with a fractured vertebra and temporary paralysis. Mrs. Newburger suffered a crushed vertebra. children Samuel 10 and Stephany 13 had minor injuries. They expected four to six weeks in hospital. the flight was from Elyria to Cincinnati to visit relatives. The couple credited Newburger’s piloting for averting tragedy as the aircraft went down about two miles from Dayton South Airport.
