Newton D. Baker Laid To Rest In Cleveland
Newton D. Baker former wartime Secretary of War will be buried tomorrow in Lakeview cemetery after services at Trinity Episcopal Church. The 66 year old Wilson cabinet officer died Christmas Day of cerebral thrombosis at his home. His widow and two of three children were at his bedside. Active pallbearers will be chosen from his 10 law partners. He had directed the Tennessee Valley Authority case from Cleveland before a Chattanooga federal court. Baker, born December 3, 1871 in Martinsburg West Virginia, served as city solicitor and mayor of Cleveland and was praised by General Harbord as the greatest Secretary of War. His grave will lie near Rockefeller and Herrick.

CENTERVILLE Indiana December 27 UP State police and special deputies pressed today for two men who kidnaped three year old John Bryan Christmas Eve then released him unharmed when hampered by close pursuit of state citizens. The car used by the fugitives was found last night on a lonely road near Newcasthy about 40 miles west of Centerville. The boy son of John L Brear a moderately wealthy cashier of the Centerville State Bank was kidnapped for 3800 dollars ransom no money was paid to secure his release.
