Judges in the Chronicle Telegram Yuletide illumination contest will select the three prize winners of 25.00, 15.00 and 10.00 this evening. They start viewing entries at 7:30 and will assess originality, artistry and neatness across many designs. The contest draws strong local interest and expects a thoughtful judgment.
In Columbus Ohio on December 27 the vanguard of about three thousand public school teachers arrived for the Ohio Teachers Association opening session. Topics include attendance law training and the spectrum of educational organization and administration. Committees will present reports to structure a five year program.

Pete, a large collie owned by Frank Wilford, was killed Monday by an automobile on the East Broad Street bridge. The dog, a daily office companion for 12 years, often rested on a rug near the radiator at Wilford's office until his return home. Pete was well known citywide and was buried soon after in the Wilford garden.
A fire at Bolling Field in Washington swept one end of a hangar used as a warehouse. Damage ran to several thousand dollars as two alarms drew city crews after a lighted heater ignited a blaze in the quartermaster stores. Fifty new airplane wings and several 400 horsepower motors for pursuit planes were ruined. A War Department board will investigate the cause.

James Metcalf of Kuckles Street pleaded guilty to drunken driving and was fined. Joe Seibert paid a $5 fine for intoxication. A divorce was granted to Fay Smith and she was restored to her maiden name. Pete Cameroon’s truck collided with a cab causing damage to both vehicles. Two Elyrians were fined for intoxication. Three people were injured when a car skidded and hit a pole on Oberlin road.

Senator Borah of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee visited the White House in Washington for the first time this session but said there was no news in his visit. A collector waved a green autograph book and Borah signed after noting people were using his name promiscuously.
L A Wismar of Fremont was appointed engineer of division No 6 of the state highway department by G F Schlesinger. He will remain assistant engineer for the territory. G Snyder of Marion will become chief maintenance engineer January 1, after serving as engineer of the sixth district.
Witness in the Senate Mexican investigation committee described Mie Ruel Avila as a notorious purveyor of any documents. Frank McLaughlin, longtime head of EL Sat Petroleum, testified Avila could supply documents for any need in Mexico City and recalled a case claiming a letter from the American embassy would be sold for $1,000.

Thirty one federal prisoners plus 15 guards started from Cleveland for the Atlanta penitentiary to serve federal sentences. Among them are Paul Anders former Cleveland Trust clerk who pleaded guilty to embezzling funds, Sam Harris and Morris Muisier sentenced for liquor offenses from St Paul Minnesota, and Biaga Iilusso given seven years for passing counterfeit war savings bonds.
