At 10 p.m. Miller’s home at 225 Howe Street suffered a kitchen roof hole from chimney sparks, owned by Mrs. Louise Griffin of 1500 East Avenue. At 10:35 p.m. Gray’s residence at 436 14th Street burned from an undetermined cause with the occupant away. Yesterday a short circuit in an electrical Christmas decoration at Tl. F. Smith’s 15 East Broad Street triggered flames, the decoration was removed before firemen arrived.

About sixty to sixty five patients celebrated Christmas at Elyria Memorial Hospital. The lobby glimmered with greens wreaths and candles as a tree shone in the hall. Patients and some visiting families shared a regular Christmas dinner and gifts. Saint Claus visited from Gates, delivering toys and treats to all the children. A student party provided a dinner for six former Gates patients, with attendees seated at a festive table. Santa arrived about 9:30, delivering a bountiful array of presents. One child remarked that Santa’s stop near Gates marked his North Pole run, as stockings overflowed with candy nuts and toys.

Two persons sustained minor injuries in automobile incidents during the final holiday rush. Elizabeth Heavens, 14, of Park Avenue, suffered scratches when knocked from a bicycle by a delivery truck on Hast River and Columbia avenues. At Broad and West avenues, a rat driven by Albert Williamson collided with vehicles of Helen Hofrichter and J F Hines, damaging fenders. C Cheevers of Springfield reported a police squad car scraped his car on Lake Avenue, forcing it over the curb and springing the front wheel. Police were answering a call on Bell Avenue last evening. Frank Vincent, 100 Stanford Avenue, was arrested for driving while intoxicated after his car struck Julia Polacsek’s parked car on Middle Avenue near 15th Street.
