Firefighter hurt as Oberlin blaze prompts neighbor evacuation
An early morning house fire on 733 E Lorain St in Oberlin destroyed an unoccupied home. Trooper David Dylag alerted nearby residents and helped neighbors evacuate the split level home next door. Fire crews from Oberlin Wellington Carlisle Township and Amherst contained the blaze in about 90 minutes. One Oberlin firefighter was treated for minor injuries after a fall on ice. Investigators seek a cause and have not yet questioned resident Angela Tyus.
