U.S. Peace Institute grants spark early debate and funding
The United States Institute of Peace approved a first round of 10 grants totaling $337,304 to study nonviolent conflict resolution amid debates over federal funding and political support. Grants go to professors and institutes examining US Soviet cooperation, ethnic bias in textbooks, and reintegration of rebels in the Philippines.
