Amherst woman tells Reagan of money troubles
Amherst resident Paulette Johnson wrote to President Reagan about her husband Stephen Johnson’s layoff from the Lorain Ford Plant and difficulties meeting bills. The White House arranged Salvation Army aid with toys for Shaun and Christy and groceries, and the family’s situation improved after the letter. Johnson now works again and no longer relies on her part time pay, while she notes they are not poverty stricken.
