Mary Lilly and The Elyria Home’s Founding Spirit
Mary E Lilly, nearly 90, founded The Elyria Home for the Aged in Elyria Ohio. She rented a Second Street building, funded a start with help from Parks Foster and his wife, and opened in 1902 with Marietta Chambers as matron. Under Methodism, the home grew to provide shelter and nursing for thousands and moved to Wick and Ely mansions before closing, a durable legacy in local history.

A humorous guide to enduring Christmas shopping chaos at the mall. It details long lines, crowded parking, price checks, and noisy carolers, with tips like shopping during late hours, using benches or portable seats, taking breaks with popcorn or a movie, and finding calm in coffee shops or Mom and Pop stores. It also notes the advice of a bookstore manager and a podiatrist on comfort and rest.
