Elyria contractor on Nixon enemies list sparks incredulity
Elyria contractor Burrell L. Scott and U.S. Senate hopeful Howard Metzenbaum reacted with disbelief to their inclusion on a 490 name Nixon enemies list released by a congressional committee. The list, linked to John W. Dean, targeted McGovern supporters for audits. IRS reportedly took no action. Also listed were Metzenbaum associates and other McGovern backers, prompting criticism of government overreach.
