Recreation Levy Proposed Draws Heated Council Debate
Lorain council heard Recreation Board member Vincent Glorioso request a five year half mill levy for recreation on the May ballot. Council blamed the Board of Education for not matching city recreation funding, citing 1954 figures. Several aldermen pressed for accountability while Glorioso argued the ordinance and funds have not been written or followed. The meeting also approved sewer bond issues and referred annexation reports to committees.

Rezoning Hearings Postponed In Lorain Council Session
Lorain public hearings on three rezoning requests were postponed to February 7 at 7 PM because of a legal advertising time lapse. Councilman Jim Romoser urged rescheduling for the controversial Larkmoor area and two other proposals. The Larkmoor zoning was changed to business earlier this year at John Rader’s request for a planned shopping block. Proposals include shifting two parcels from residential to business and include Theodore Scherba and Hula Photo Service as named property fronts.
