Resignation Likely for Elyria High Athletic Director
Elyria Board of Education will consider the resignation of Carl L. Smith, long time athletic director and Elyria High School staff member, at the January 13 meeting. Smith cites duties as teacher and supervisor as too time consuming and notes support from administration and faculty. The move, effective at end of the 1948-49 school year, follows prior requests to ease his teaching load and shifts in athletic leadership history at the district.
