Low turnout ends senior nutrition site in New London
The Mansfield District Office of Services for Aging plans to close the First United Methodist Church nutrition site at year end due to low attendance. The noon meals and home delivery served about 10-12 meals and five deliveries daily, far below the original 20 daily meals and eight deliveries anticipated in May 1982. The program, open to all residents 60 and older, is partially funded by government funds with participants contributing a portion of each meal. A reopening would require renewed community support, says nutrition coordinator Annabell Stewart.
