Oberlin referee arrested in sex sting

Oberlin police arrested 32 year old junior high school sports official Stephen C Parker on Thursday at his Oberlin home. He faces ten prostitution related charges including five counts of promoting prostitution and five counts of procuring. Parker operated businesses and residences in Sandusky Oberlin and Lorain used as fronts for prostitution and used aliases Christopher Partners and Steve Partner. He had been under investigation for 18 months led by Perkins Township Detective J J McGuire.

John Glenn Visits NASA Lewis to Pick Up Giant Card

Well wishers filled a giant greeting card for Sen. John Glenn after American Greetings could not fit the card in the mailbox or reach him by air mail. Glenn went to NASA Lewis Research Center to collect it and spoke to employees about his space shuttle mission and NASA research and development. He praised Lewis for its role as the agency's original research center and noted the need to advance technology.

Postal workers deliver 470 toys to Chronicle Not-Forgotten Box

Elyria postal workers filled the Chronicle Not-Forgotten Box with 470 toys for the Salvation Army drive. Donations aim for 6,000 toys this Christmas, with a current total of 5,903 and a Monday deadline. Donations can be left at the Salvation Army Christmas Castle or The Chronicle, with hours listed for each location. Rob Kurtz coordinated the effort, raising 1322 dollars from postal staff to fund toy purchases and enlisting his children’s help to pick suitable gifts.
