When I Was A Child I Liked Speaking Of Books Christmas Treasures
Readers recall the joy of books as cherished presents at Christmas. One woman recounts childhoods filled with books, dolls, oranges, and candy canes, while another recalls receiving 26 books in a single year and reading aloud to grandchildren. Classic titles and authors like Little Colonel, The Secret Garden, Black Beauty, Treasure Island, Uncle Remus, Hans Brinker, and Tom Swift evoke a shared memory of youthful reading. Teen memories highlight Westerns by Zane Grey and adventure tales, with one girl noting Riders of the Purple Sage as a favorite Christmas gift.
