A decade ending accord between Atty Gen Palmer the government and the red meat packers is expected to trigger a substantial fall in food prices within two months. The pact requires packers to abandon related businesses and wholesale ventures, disassociate from non meat lines, and oversee compliance under a court injunction.
Five Independent farmers Institutes will be held in Lorain County during January and February at Eaton Center Kipton Brownhelm LatRange and Rochester. The fortieth annual Lorain County Farmers Institute meeting will be at Hidgeville January 21 22 and 23 with organizer Jan Chamberlain in attendance. Starg Master Tab or will a 80 be present. Lorain county stands among the first in Ohio to organize farmers institutes.

Atlantic City December 1 1919 Esther Miller Blake faces grand jury action for allegedly killing her five year old son James Buddy Blake by tossing him into the ocean. Alienists appointed by the court will decide if she is insane to avoid murder charges. if sane prosecutors may proceed. The case hinges on mental state at the time of the alleged act as experts may be called before a final determination is made.
Chicago, Dec. 19 The immensity of the reorganization that must be effected when the Big Five retire from the grocery business is partly told by figures from the Packers sale reports introduced before the Interstate Commerce Commission. Packers now control 49.1 percent of the cheese production in the United States. Armour 15 greatest rice merchant handles 16,000,000 pounds of rice the first year he added this branch. Swift Armour Cudahy and Morris companies own 1555 milk and cream buying stations and 242 egg and poultry buying branches in 24 states. They sold 126 190 560 pounds of dressed poultry in 1918 or 49.5 percent of U.S. production. They sold 202,984 7 dozen eggs or 33 percent of output. Swift Co from 1915 to 1918 sold over one billion pounds of preserves condiments vegetables and pickles. Armour Co put on the market 9,414,076 dollars worth of ice cream soda shops and fruit supplies during last twelve months. Swift Co sold 623,459,242 pounds for pickles mustard vinegar and catnip in 1918. Total production of factory-made butter in 1918 was 418,000,000 pounds, nearly 40 percent controlled by the packers.
