Six persons dead and 21 wounded as riots end with the burning of the Pais plant in Havana. Government supporters attacked opponents, with soldiers aiding according to some employees. President Ramon Grau San Martin declared he would stay as provisional ruler until May 20, 1934.
Mrs. Mabel Naylor, blind since age seven due to a growth pressing the optic nerve, walked her upstairs flat in Green Bay on December 18 and saw her two daughters Mil dren 4 and Laverne 3 for the first time. Her husband, ill with lung infection, saved for the operation by Dr. M. X. Fuller, and despite money worries, celebrated a Christmas of new vision and joy.
Police investigated a Saturday evening robbery at Atlantic and Pacific Grocery, 910 Lake Avenue. Two gunmen, ages about 50 and 40, threatened customers, forced manager J. D. Schriber to hand over cash, then fled in an old car toward Spruce Street.
Final plans for filling empty stockings in Elyria next Monday will be made tonight at city hall at 8 p.m. The Not An Empty Stocking Committee appeals for help as Christmas nears. Tag Day netted 170.45, with YWCA girls Girl Reserves and some Boy Scouts aiding. Betty Burnett led with 15.28, Janet Baus second with 15.25.
Ohio forecast clouds over the state with rain in the north on Tuesday and southern rain late tonight into Tuesday. Temperatures ease lower in the east and far south tonight with a slow rise expected Tuesday.
Walter H. Kinder 77 longtime Democratic figure in Findlay died Sunday of cancer after months of illness. He served as State Superintendent of Insurance 1890 1893 under Governor Campbell and spent two six year terms on the Third District Court of Appeals from 1909 to 1921. He was later appointed to fill an unexpired term in 1932 and once chaired the Ohio Appellate Court. Born in Hamilton Ohio he was admitted to the bar in 1879 and practiced until recently. Funeral services set for Trinity Episcopal church Tuesday with his son Rev William R Kinder of Detroit assisting.

Martha Summers, widow of A. D. Summers, died in Gallipolis today of pneumonia. She would have turned 99 on March 31, and was noted as one of the region’s oldest women.
Common Pleas Judge W. B. Thompson reversed the Mayor's court ruling in Co. B. Telling’s case. Telling had been found guilty of disorderly conduct and fined after broadcasting a religious sermon to an assembly in Cascade park. The appellate court held the evidence insufficient for conviction under state law.
Col and Mrs Charles A Lindbergh depart Miami in their globe trotting red and black monoplane aiming for a final 1400 mile hop to New York. They had earlier flown from New York to San Domingo and covered 21 countries on four continents before arrival.
Frederick Dozier Gardner, former Missouri governor and wartime administrator, died at Barnes Hospital after a three week illness from an infected jaw. He was 68 and underwent two operations to stop the infection from spreading to his brain.
In Columbus on December 18, the state liquor control bill backed by Governor White moves toward enactment. The House approved 91 to 17. Senate support expected after minor differences are resolved. Public sentiment favors the state monopoly and swift passage over further delays.
New York reports mark the thirtieth anniversary of the heavier than air flight begun by the Wright brothers with a 21 second lift at Kitty Hawk on February 17 1903 Orville Wright attended Franklin Institute Philadelphia dedication of its Hall of Aviation as Kitty Hawk events drew crowds. bad weather forced Frank Hawks to cancel a wreath ceremony at the site.
New York reports the death of mystery author Louis Joseph Vance in a hotel room. Police suspect foul play after an alledgedly intact lock and a burned body with an almost empty benzine can found in the bathroom. The family calls the death accidental, noting he often smoked while sleeping.
Charles Steinberg 50 vice-president of Steinberg Inc. a downtown haberdashery was found strangled and beaten to death in his Cincinnati office at 8 50 A M today. A cord looped around the neck and blood on face and hands were noted. Receipts for Saturday about 1000 were stolen. Brother Leon Steinberg discovered the body when opening the store. The body lay before the open safe with coins scattered and signs of a struggle.
A near capacity audience greeted Elyria High School musicians as they presented their Annual Christmas concert under director J Martin Beck in the school auditorium. The program featured carols led by a 51 voice mixed chorus, a string quartet Irene Hollis Fred Winters Mary Patdorf Dorothy Kiefer and a trumpet trio Oliver Townsend Robert Lee William Lersch.
Ten men and one woman were detained after a mass assault on a 3 000 strong Ukrainian protest against Soviet atrocities in Chicago. Bricks clubs and missiles rained on marchers from an elevated railway station injuring over 100. Police arrived with six squads ending the clash.

Washington reports the federal government has resumed its advance in domestic gold buying price, increasing the rate by five cents to 34.06 dollars per ounce. The prior price of 34.01 dollars per ounce had been in effect since December 1.
Firefighters from Hose Company Number One investigated a chimney fire at John Fate home 104 Malcolm Court Saturday evening. No blaze was found on arrival and no damage occurred.
Four people killed in traffic incidents over the weekend including Thelma Smith 25 Elyria George Takacs 43 Elyria Frank Blue 55 Oberlin and Andrew Wojtowicz Lorain. Smith died after a car went into a ditch near West River road. Takacs former Elyria Water Department employee died after being struck on LaGrange road. Blue died after a hit skip on Route 58 near Oberlin. Wojtowicz died at Oberlin Hospital from injuries after a Friday strike. Funeral details and survivor lists are provided for each case.
An off-season tornado swept through two Caddo Parish communities over the weekend killing four people and injuring many. Grayson, 17 miles north, suffered the heaviest loss with three dead and about twenty hurt, while four were injured at Soda Fount. Several cottages were demolished in the storm.
