U. S. Labor Board Rules No Authority Over Electric Lines
Chicago December 18 The United States railroad labor board ruled that the Esch Cummings transportation act does not grant it jurisdiction over interurban and electric lines. Appeals from employees on various electric lines asking hearings were denied. The decision affects all electric interurban and city transportation systems operated by interurban companies. Proceedings were heard months ago and the matter may go to the United States Supreme Court for interpretation. The ruling was rendered in a case brought by sixteen railroad brotherhoods against electric railway employers.
