The council discussed the gas shortage and a proposed rate ordinance. Mayor reported complaints from a Lake Street resident about service cuts but investigations were limited. Adams defended operations, denied misconduct, and noted 15 gas regulators city wide to balance pressure.
An ordinance introduced last night sets a new Bremen fire department platoon system with a chief, assistant chief, four captains, six lieutenants, three roster mechanics, and 24 firefighters in classes A, B, and C. Salaries for firefighters were discussed as council members dispute notification and attendance.
The four story brick D C docks Building on the river front, a Cleveland landmark since 1850, burned after a long night fire. Snowy cold hindered firefighters as timbers burned tinder like and the walls collapsed just before midnight. Historically it housed the Northern Transportation Company and later the Detroit and Cleveland Navigation Company.

Shoe dealer George Philpott described the history of the Murbach Coal Co as the first in a series where a member reports back to the club. The New Year’s party is set for New Year’s Eve at the Country club with entertainment on the 20th. Members will meet at the Y M C A for 6 o’clock dinner before visiting homes to give children their treats.
Washington December 16 An unfavorable report on the bill to repeal wartime prohibition law was ordered today by the House Agricultural Committee by a vote of six to three.

The exception to the charge targeted Alexander Howat, president of the union, with alleged continued violation of the court injunction against further strike activity.
