Harold Gooden Named Sanitation Department Head

Harold Gooden named sanitation department head for Elyria, effective tomorrow, to oversee transition from water to new department. He brings road, evacuation, and logistics experience from Motor Express, Commercial Motor Freight, Liberty Highway, and H. J. Hart firms. D. W. London man critically hurt in plane crash near Lima

Lehman, 27, of New London, was in critical condition at Oriol Hospital in Lima after a single seat plane he piloted from Sidney crashed west of Lima yesterday afternoon. Firemen pulled him from wreckage as snow squalls affected visibility. He is son of I J Lehman of Lehman Baking Co. and his wife.

Lorain Attorney Charles Chapla Dies. Court Suspended

Lorain attorney Charles A. Chapla, 52, died Thursday night at St Joseph’s Hospital after a three month illness. Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity church with burial in Calvary Cemetery. The city suspended court until 1 pm Monday to allow lawyers and judges to attend Chapla’s services. Roads in Lorain county faced heavy snow with plows and crews stretched to keep main streets open as crews reassessed how long closures could last.
