Relief Problem To Be Put Up To Council

Elyria faces a relief funding dilemma as county relief shifts to subdivisions January 1. Service Director Faxon says next year's needs for about 266 cases and 700 people will total roughly $65,000, with current revenue from taxes unlikely to exceed $10,000. Even five-year borrowing against that income leaves a shortfall of about $15,000. Mayor Petro and Solicitor Cheney traveled to Columbus for a two day municipal leaders session to push this and other issues before the legislature.
