Big Ten approves new athletic eligibility bases
CAGO UP I New scholastic requirements approved by the Big Ten were expected to have little effect on eligibility for athletes receiving financial aid. The bases combine test scores with high school ranking and were created by Dr. Arthur Mittman of the Iowa testing bureau. A Big Ten representative said the proposal would slightly tighten requirements, reflecting greater difficulty in college in recent years. Athletic directors approved televising basketball next season and voted to assess each member school 1000 dollars to fund championship meets and tournaments.
