Sheffield cop suspended over not answering stolen car call
Sheffield Village Council voted to oppose firing 15 year veteran Ptl Dari us Greenleaf and imposed a 60 day suspension after Police Chief Andrew Dziak recommended dismissal for dereliction of duty. Greenleaf defended himself citing 14 years as a Sheffield Lake dispatcher and 15 years as a part time village patrolman. He said reports are held 24 hours before airing and argued the call was not immediate. Dziak said immediate response was required and warned the severity could have endangered an officer. Council met Monday night, with solicitor Dan Wightman presiding briefly before adjourning to Mayor Len Pando's office.
