Two area men fined $500 for DUI in Lorain County

Melbert McGlaughlin of North Ridgeville donated six gallons of blood to Lorain County Blood Bank at Akron Memorial Hospital. In Elyria and Lorain, Albert Frame of Cambridge Avenue and Robert Dellifield of East 28th Street faced DUI charges, Frame receiving $250 fine plus five days in jail and license suspension, Dellifield $250 fine for pleaded no contest.

Western Reserve Kennel Club Show Heads for Public Hall

Nearly 2,000 dogs expected to compete at the Western Reserve Kennel Club show in Public Hall Cleveland Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. Conformation and obedience events feature 108 breeds with coast to coast entries and special demonstrations by Leader Dogs for the Blind and Bradford Border Collies herd geese. Major dog food firms display products and a shopping center is planned.

Avon schools start 10 week intramural basketball program

Avon schools launched a 10-week intramural basketball program after a board of education meeting. Gary Howell was assigned to elementary and junior high levels, Mario Columbaro to the high school. The program began last Saturday and runs on consecutive Saturdays during the school year with enrollments of 500 at Avon East, 658 at Detroit Elementary and Junior High, and 531 at Avon High School.
