Balbo at Libya and Franco threat to world peace
The piece notes Italian General Balbo in Libya with about 100,000 troops near French Tunis, aiming to outshine Mussolini for power and threatening regional stability. It contrasts Balbo’s fame from a transatlantic seaplane flight with his exile, and outlines broader tensions around Franco’s Spain, anticipated Spanish embargo shifts, and European reactions driven by Italian moves and British influence.
