Noel set for busy Christmas in tiny Missouri town
Noel Missouri braces for a festive season as residents volunteer for annual Christmas events. A 35 foot lighted tree near St Clara Lake will shine with nativity displays while the Noel postmark brings letters for Santa. A three day celebration runs December 14 16 with parachuting Santa John Myers and a Dec 16 program by the Noel Ministerial Alliance themed Pvt Christ Back Into Christmas. The town expects thousands of visitors and handles hundreds of letters to Santa as the local Chamber and Eastern Star coordinate activities. The official population is 760 yet Noel draws mail and visitors from across Missouri and neighboring states. Postmaster Howard Cates estimates many thousands of pieces of mail, possibly half a million, during the season.

Gas stricken family in Columbia Township seek help
Willis Shedowan and his ten member family inhaled gas fumes at their Station Rd home in Columbia Township. The father was hospitalized until Monday. the others were treated and released. They stay at the Weddell House in Elyria with Salvation Army and Red Cross aid, while repairs to eliminate gas leaks are planned with state fire marshal and John Costello.
