Rescued from life boat after ship ablaze near Ireland
Seven crew members of the schooner Amy G. McKean were picked up at sea in a lifeboat by the Swedish steamer Strassa. The burning vessel had been bound from Queenstown to Halifax when the crew abandoned ship. The Strassa reported their rescue at roughly 50.28 N 20.68 W, about 45 miles southeast of Ireland, en route to Boston.

Pilot of Plane Fatal Near Willoughby
Maynard Morse 26, pilot, died at Lake Memorial Hospital from injuries after a two seat bi plane crashed two miles east of Willoughby amid stunt maneuvers. Passenger Lawrence Chaffe 52, a trucking contractor, was near death with multiple fractures and internal injuries. The crash happened 45 minutes after takeoff from the Lake County Airport, the plane plunging into an apple orchard on Goodhold farm along U S Route 20. witnesses described a tar spin before impact.
