State attorney general appeals Head Start acquittals
Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray has joined Lorain County prosecutors in appealing the acquittals of Nancy Smith and Joseph Allen in the 1994 Head Start sexual assault case. The filing argues the judge lacked authority to void sentences and order new hearings. Smith faced 30 to 90 years, Allen multiple life terms.
