Congress Committees Bar Doors Four In Ten Meetings Secret
Congressional Quarterly reports 1954 saw 41 percent of 3,002 committee and subcommittee sessions in Washington held behind closed doors. The share rose from 34 percent in 1953, with House and Senate panels both contributing, notably the House Education and Labor panel and the Foreign Relations Committee in the Senate. Many executive sessions remain uncounted.
