Son evicts parents from Seattle home in property dispute

In Seattle, Tom Rhodes Jr. obtained a court order to evict his elderly parents from their $50,000 house. Bitter cold and heavy snow sweep northeast Ohio

December's icy grip sent northeast Ohio to near zero temperatures and 20 to 40 mph winds with 1 to 4 inches more snow forecast. Lorain County saw about four inches overnight, bringing total to 14 inches in some areas. Power outages hit Oberlin and surrounding towns, with Lakewood and Avon Lake area outages reported. School closures and event cancellations followed as roads iced over and drifting snow persisted. A Nova man, Lawrence H. Harris, 79, died shoveling snow in rural Nova. Hospitals reported numerous injuries from slips and snow blower incidents. advice urged caution with snow blowers.

City plows work through night to clear side streets

Mayor Marguerite E Bowman mobilized all street crews and plows to clear streets after a heavy snowfall. Safety director Richard Bergman and Bowman inspected routes while residents were advised to call city hall if streets remained unplowed. A travel advisory remains in effect with 1 to 3 inches more snow expected, higher amounts in the Snow Belt. Temperatures fall near zero tonight with a high around 34 early morning.
