Death By Own Action Expected In Volpe Case
Lorain police expect a verdict of death by own action in the Eva Volpe case. The 21 year old was found dead in Lake Erie near stop 69. Coroner Peebles said drowning caused death, with facial bruises possibly from a hard blow. Parents identified the body after it washed ashore.

Treasury reports strong tax collections and low delinquencies
County Treasurer N. D. Backua announced year end tax receipts totaling 614,068 with only about six percent delinquent in personal and classified property tax books. Delinquency in the classified division stood at roughly 1.5 percent. An additional 6,024 in personal property tax delinquent from prior years was received. Penalties of ten percent will be assessed on unpaid bills. County commissioners also set January 5 for viewing the Henrietta Township Higeins ditch under a school board petition.
