Gibson Apartment Case Arguments To Be Heard In Columbus
City Solicitor Grover L. Severs says Gibson case arguments will be heard in Columbus tomorrow as the state Supreme Court weighs the City of Lorain’s denial of Burt H. Gibson’s permit for a Timber apartment building on West Lorain Street. The appeals court sided with the city, overturning the Lorain County Common Pleas Court which found no zoning violation in effect when the permit was denied. The case began after the zoning board of appeals recommended issuing the permit in August 1958 and the city council overruled. The higher court will decide whether to grant the permit based on a law changed since the filing.
