EMH to close nursing school in 1987
Elyria Memorial Hospital will shut the M B Johnson School of Nursing and merge its program with Lorain County Community College for licensed practical nurses. The senior class will graduate in May 1987 and 33 freshmen will transfer to LCCC in January. A meeting for transferred students is set for Tuesday at 7 p.m. in room 227B.

Minnesota Supreme Court rules fetus not a human being
In a 6-1 decision the Minnesota Supreme Court said a fetus is not a human being under state law. The ruling means a man charged with killing an 8 and a half month fetus cannot be prosecuted for fetal death under homicide statutes. The court noted no statute defines human being and legislative action would be required to address viable fetus prosecutions.
