A back door blizzard dumped over two feet of snow across coastal New England causing at least four deaths and widespread travel disruptions. Winds up to 50 mph created massive drifts, power outages affected thousands, and Nantucket tourists were stranded as Boston urged use of public transit and schools and offices closed.
Common Pleas Judge Joseph F. Diver ordered Dr Leonard Faymore and the Eaton Township Doctors Clinic shut down effective today. The injunction bars Faymore from practicing medicine or operating a pharmacy in Ohio amid charges of a dangerous detox program and widespread illicit drug activity among hundreds of patients. Sheriff Mertz will serve the order, Faymore seeks a stay in appeals court, and the clinic remains closed as Faymore faces traffic citations and a January preliminary hearing.
More than 2,000 homeowners in Cuyahoga County who bought homes below market value in 1980 81 will receive property tax relief. Auditor Hatchadorian and Treasurer Gaul will mail letters this week detailing eligibility and complaint forms to file with the Board of Revision.
A 33 year old man of Middle Eastern descent was to face a federal magistrate in Cleveland over an alleged attempt to hijack a Trans World Airlines flight at Hopkins International Airport. Flight engineer Harold Ramey leapt the suspect, tackling him and injuring himself in a 12 foot fall, sparing passengers from harm.
