The outlook calls for a rain or snow chance Monday with morning lows in the mid to upper 20s and highs in the mid to upper 30s. Tuesday and Wednesday look fair with morning lows in the 20s and highs in the 30s. Winds shift to southwest tonight with gusts, waves easing along the coast, and sunset times listed.
Heavy snow fell across the Southwest mountains and spread into the Plains and East while Northwest temperatures hit record lows. By midday snow covered much of the central and southern Rockies into New Mexico, southwestern Texas, western Oklahoma and southern Kansas. NM saw 22 at Sandia Peak and 20 at Pajarito, with other spots reporting 16 to 17 inches and 12 inches at Santa Fe Ski Basin. Arizona reported up to 19 inches at Flagstaff.
An interim Ohio energy strategy report from the PUCO calls for low interest loans to finance energy efficient home upgrades and appliances, and for increased use of natural gas vehicles. The plan, produced by a 20 agency task force, also urges stronger building codes, energy education, and tax incentives for wind or solar power. Public hearings are planned in Middletown, Youngstown, Akron, Athens, Findlay, Columbus, and more.
