Four die as Atlanta Gas Light Tower fire rages

A flash fire in the Atlanta Gas Light Tower trapped four people, including a receptionist from Albany and two tile setters. Two more tile workers leaped to their deaths trying to escape while ten coworkers survived by sheltering in an office and breaking windows. Armed man robs Corner Shoppe at 10 30 a.m.

An armed man brandishing a pistol robbed Corner Shoppe at 200 Cleveland in broad daylight, taking an undetermined amount of cash. Store owner Frank Brunner Jr. said the robber entered the front door, grabbed cigarettes, produced the pistol, and fled on foot with a lookout outside.

Lorain Marine Zeneida Ortiz Jr. Killed in Vietnam
