Planning director outlines Erie unit functions and duties
Planning director James J. Bartrop described the Erie region commission as advisory except for subdivision rules, noting membership is voluntary and costs are 15 cents per person by population. Florence Township led in funding and seeking advice, with two main project categories: immediate zoning and subdivision work, plus long range population, land use, and public service planning. Local officials raised water pollution and future population protections, and Bartrop urged timely zoning change requests within five days for consideration by the regional commission. Starr Truscott asked for a detailed follow up, which Bartrop agreed to arrange in six to eight weeks.
