N Olmsted and Ridgeville meet Avon Lorain Catholic in a tense matchup with a final score in a close finish. Avon Lorain Catholic claimed the win, highlighting key plays and leading scorers as the contest unfolded.

A 51 year old Avon man entered Rockers on Antioch Drive with a semi automatic rifle around 6 p.m. He fled to Sorrento's where three men restrained him until police arrived. The AR 15 rifle was unloaded and the suspect was hospitalized for psychiatric evaluation at EMH Regional Medical Center. Karen Woods and her family witnessed part of the incident.
Lorain County residents express optimism about the county’s future in the 1998 attitude survey conducted by the Joint Center for Policy Research at Lorain County Community College with help from the Citizens League of Lorain County and Lorain County 2020. Paula M. Smith 29 of Leavitt Road was indicted by Lorain County prosecutors on one count of sexual battery for a consensual relationship with an inmate at Lorain Correctional Institution. She posted a $5,000 bond and was released. Lt. John Born of the Ohio State Patrol said the inquiry began in January after prison investigators reported the matter, with the alleged acts occurring between November and December 1997.
