Three Kansas engineers killed in homemade rocket blast
LAWRENCE Kansas three engineers from Cailery Chemical Company were killed and four others injured when a home made rocket exploded in a waste area at the plant southwest of Lawrence. The dead include Charles Sattes Murphy Butler Pennsylvania and William Reynolds 29. Wengrayn Mars Frank Wright and Richard Wright all formerly of Pennsylvania. Hospitalized with serious injuries were Richard A Wright 26 and James Boyd 38. A spokesman said the blast occurred behind a blast wall as workers tamped silver nitrate and waste materials into the rocket’s copper tubes.
