Defective Cable Causes Lights To Go Out
Hundreds of Elyrians had shopping disrupted for forty five minutes Saturday evening when lights on Broad street north side between East and West avenues failed at 5 14 p m. Officials said a defective substation cable in the Troxel building caused the outage. Access delay to the substation lengthened repairs, marking the downtown outage since the 1924 Lorain tornado. Lights restored by 6 p m after quick repairs. J B Johnson, Elyria Ohio Public Service manager, noted extensive cable system rebuilds and said the fault was not the company’s fault.
